Course Overview

This is a full day classroom/virtual classroom-based training session for people working with children and vulnerable adults who need Tracheostomy. This course is for those working with people with complex health needs to help them develop good care practices and principles around Tracheostomy care. Learners will cover the normal and upper/lower respiratory system including how to eat and care for those requiring a tracheostomy.  The course features a range of group work, activities and discussions to enhance learner skill development. This training session can be accessed via a link and is accessible from a range of devices including IOS and Android platforms.

 

This course offers a blended learning approach including a short scenario, a workbook, infographics and a classroom style training session.

Aims & Objectives

  • Assessing the normal respiratory function, upper and lower respiratory and anatomy.
  • Support your learners to eat with a tracheostomy
  • Understand how to complete tape changes, clean the inner cannula.
  • Develop a clinical care policy
  • Outline expectations around tape changes and emergency response.
