Course Overview
This is a full day classroom-based training session for people working with children and vulnerable adults. Learners will be supported with an overview of the Mental Capacity Act and DoLS, to ensure they have the knowledge and skill to deal with situations relating to mental capacity. The course features a range of group work, activities including role play and discussions to enhance learner skill development. This training session can be accessed via a link and is accessible from a range of devices including IOS and Android platforms.
This course offers a blended learning approach including a short scenario, a workbook, infographics and a classroom style training session.
Aims & Objectives
- The aim and spirit of the Mental Capacity Act
When and how the MCA balances empowerment with protection - Explanation of how and when to assess a person’s capacity
- How to assess what is in someone’s best interests
- Explanation of how the MCA defines restraint
- Introduction to deprivation of liberty
